Its 39 episodes were amongst the best and worst anime I had ever seen. It had a very inconsistent heart, and were it 13 episodes shorter and had a faster start, it would be undoubtedly in my favourites.

For the laserdisc release in Japan, GAiNAX made several omake theatre productions that featured SD animation, some true historical facts about the period in which Nadia was set, and some falsified guff about the Eiffel Tower being destroyed by a laser beam and being rebuilt as the identical Eiffel Tower 2.

GAiNAX have long been difficult licensees, and they would not let ADV anywhere near their extra content. Now, at last, they can be procured! They’re really quite pointless if you haven’t seen Nadia, but I was hit by a burst of nostalgia and happiness to revisit my old friends without any of their stigma of lousiness.
This omake comes from that age where animators were not only out to tell stories, but were also out to have fun.
