To prove that nothing will ever be easy for Taniguchi, he joins the baseball team … then he realises that the team kind of sucks.
This episode begins with Taniguchi in an optimistic frame of mind, having finally returned to the sport he loves … after what must have been a year.
There were quite a few interesting parts of this episode: Taniguchi’s warm welcome by the team was reassuring, and his frosty reception by the captain was only slightly unexpected. There was a fair amount of emotion involved when Taniguchi realises that he has not yet recovered his pitching ability.
The suckitude of the team was something I really wasn’t counting on; they don’t cooperate and they can’t coordinate any of their own moves, which leads them to blame each other for any mistakes that occur.
While Taniguchi has become a pinch hitter after realising he can not yet pitch for beans, I really don’t see how they can conceivably win the first game of the season. Standby for a miracle.
