If I’ve read this right, then cake is more important than blood. Okay, fair enough.
It’s another Honey episode and one that tries to tell us about being true to ourselves, which is something I already learned a few years ago when I decided that there should be no such thing as a “guilty pleasure” and that I should not be ashamed of myself.
Great twincest, bizarre moral. We should stop looking for meaning in these episodes.

I vote that we have a series of episodes in which Haruhi goes on dates with the individual members of the Host Club so that the audience can decide which one they love the most. Actually, that’s what’s already happened. Ignore me.

I had pegged Kaoru as the one being more interested in Haruhi, so it was a surprise to find that the one with more confused feelings for our heroine was Hikaru. It all makes sense in the end, but this episode is going to be a let down for people who watch this show for the comedy.

Before I get to this episode, I’d like to point out this lengthy comment left about the the controversial pivotal event of episode eight. I don’t agree with all of the sentiments expressed but I think it’s worth airing.

This episode is way too much like hard work, with absolutely no ambient music until the end and almost no real humour to reach its point.
I’m fine when a comedy goes serious, but there’s a difference between serious and trying-too-hard to the point of being boring.

An incredibly funny episode let down only by the insanity of its moral. Not every episode needs a moral to be cool, and the one espoused in this episode is somewhat creepy.

Technically Yakitate!! Japan was the show that brought me back from my self imposed “holiday”, but Ouran High School Host Club opened the door to true fun that I haven’t felt for a while. Like, since the previous episode of Ouran High School Host Club.

Good lord, my head exploded during this episode. I was derailed by one particularly insane, brilliant joke (Heil, Zuka Bu!) and was lost to the world for the rest of the ride.
