Black Cat – episode 3

Pinky promises with artificial lolis! I’m there!
In this episode, both Black Cat and Sven are after Eve, the blonde loli of mystery, but for different reasons. Sven uncovers Rins’s true identity, and then decides that Eve must be liberated for her own good once he learns that she is a bio-weapon. This is where it starts to get “rights of the sentient”.
The episode is at pretty much the same standard as the previous two, with a welcome emphasis on developing the characters further. Rinslet looks so much different with her wig off, thanks to the magic of anime! The scenes with Sven and Eve are nice to watch, and it is easy to see that Sven is a caring person; that and his showings of ability and insight are a glue for this program.
Less of a glue is the distinctly homoerotic edge of the scenes between Train and the guy from Chronos who has a rose. The voice acting almost elevated to tragedy at that point of the program.
I don’t know why, but it seems like the director decides to have at least one really weird and unnecessary effect per episode: in this one, Sven’s hotel room has wisps of fog blowing through it. Fog. Don’t ask me to attempt to explain that one.
I really don’t like the design of Eve as she’s got far too much hair, but I appreciate the sort of fatherly approach that Sven has towards the character. Due to this, and the fact that I have no idea what in Hell Train’s thinking, I don’t think I’ve picked a loser for this season.
