Bleach – episode 64

I remember when Bleach used to be fun. This episode wasn’t super fun, but Kon made me laugh out loud. Three times. That counts for a little.

Ichigo has to get used to “real life” once more, which involves constant sparring matches with his father. Ishida, Chad and Orihime worry about how useless they were in Soul Society, and Renji has been appointed as overseer of Karakura. It’s as if Soul Society acknowledges that there is an outside world.

The reason that the hangers-on worry about having proved useless is because they, by and large, proved useless. The scenes with Renji leaning on Urahara were fun, but it’s weird to see Yoruichi as a cat after all of this time. How can she cope with having such a voice?

The most fun, though, was Ichigo fighting outside of the classrooms while trying to keep it quiet. It’s a pity, then, that they’ve already interrupted this with another kidnap story. How many princesses does Ichigo have to save before he can rest?
