Orphen Revenge
June 26, 2005 on 1:29 am | In Orphen, Revenge | Comments Off on Orphen RevengeOrphen Revenge should come with a warning: do not judge based on first two episodes. These two first episodes are so under-animated and under-thought that it is hard to believe that they made their way in. With only 23 episodes at its disposal, Orphen Revenge can barely afford that, yet it picks up steam and becomes the sort of thing I love in anime.
Honey and Clover – episode eight
June 25, 2005 on 4:33 pm | In Honey and Clover | Comments Off on Honey and Clover – episode eight“I couldn’t leave you alone.”
Easily the funniest episode of Honey & Clover so far. The first was funny, but by now we know all of these characters well enough to have a glorious festival of celebration.
Emma – episode 8
June 25, 2005 on 12:05 pm | In Emma | Comments Off on Emma – episode 8“Pocketwatch”
Depressing. Emma is entering pure spoiler territory now, so be warned! If you’re watching it, don’t read this until you’ve seen the episode. Or just look at the pretty pictures.
Honey and Clover – episode seven
June 22, 2005 on 1:17 pm | In Honey and Clover | Comments Off on Honey and Clover – episode seven“We Look for a Miracle”
This episode could not hope to match the ultra revelations of the previous effort, but it still said quite a bit about what Honey & Clover is about; it also featured a gorgeous character montage of epic proportions.
Behind again
June 22, 2005 on 1:05 pm | In Site News | Comments Off on Behind againI didn’t want to do a thing about Honey & Clover episode 7 because I’ve got something against back-to-back entries about the same title (things have changed, eh?) … but Emma is way behind due to iichan’s “personal issues”, so I guess I’m going to have to go and do this.
I’ve got reviews of Giant Robo and Orphen: Revenge waiting to be written, but I’m in an exam period. It’s going to be a bumpy end of June.
By the way, Batman Begins, if you’re interested.
Honey and Clover – episode six
June 13, 2005 on 8:09 am | In Honey and Clover | Comments Off on Honey and Clover – episode six“Tears, the past and confessionsâ€
On a weekly basis, Honey & Clover impresses me. To the max!
Amazingly, this episode had about a billion storylines, and all of them worked: Takemoto and Hagu’s relationship, Hanamoto and Rika’s shared past, the love triangles of Mayama and Morita’s highly suspect pursuit of money.
Close to perfect.
Burn Up!
June 12, 2005 on 3:41 pm | In Burn Up! | Comments Off on Burn Up!Sometimes I ask myself “Why do I watch this stuff?”: the sort of anime in which the police riddle a man with bullets and then tell him to freeze. Burn Up! is proof that in 1991, everyone thought it was still the eighties and that they should have abandoned ship.
Master Keaton
June 12, 2005 on 3:31 pm | In Master Keaton | Comments Off on Master KeatonArchaeologist. Hostage Negotiator. Insurance Investigator. Culinary expert. Master of Life.
Hiraga-Keaton Taichi is all of these things over the course of the 39 episodes of the Eurocentric series Master Keaton.
Honey and Clover – episode five
June 9, 2005 on 10:45 pm | In Honey and Clover | Comments Off on Honey and Clover – episode five“Thinking of mother back home”
This was not very funny. It was not trying to be, so I can forgive it.
