Almost sentimentality is the name of the day, counterbalanced by discussion of character types, and an important lesson is learned: while the Host Club was designed to please girls in general, individual females are a different matter entirely.

Aww, check that out. On top of the hilarity we get Tamaki saying something genuine. Who would have thought? This show is in trouble of becoming a little Fruits Basket like (“… she touches the hearts of all she meets. She is … Pika Pika Onigiri-chan!”), but that’s not really a genuine problem.

I am a master of silent laughter. When you watch anime on trains or in the library, you don’t want to draw attention to your mirth. This episode of Ouran High School Host Club had me in danger of exposing my jollity to the world at large. At the last second I held it down, but this was a near riotous episode, packed as it was with inappropriate material.

This episode relied on reaction shots to get ahead. Fortunately, the reaction shots were almost without exception hilarious. The visual metaphor this time around was less impressive, though.

I’m a guy. That didn’t stop me from fangirling all over this episode. I got so worked up about it just by watching it, with the atmosphere, that I got sick to my stomach. I haven’t seen something like this for a long time and it’s likely to be my pick of the season.
Ouran High School Host Club is ridiculously, outrageously good and I can almost guarantee that all of the female anime fans I personally know would be in love at first sight.
